Gettin' Crafty: Bubba Mug

So, its summertime. For students, that means working a little bit for some extra cash, but also a lot of time in the sun. All you need is a towel, pool, and a big mug for water, soda, or whatever else you need to stay cool in that summer sun. But why settle for a normal glass when you can have an awesome one like this??
Well, it's actually pretty easy. I'm currently working on mine, but here are the steps to making a rockin' summer mug.

What you need:
-Bubba Keg (like this one here)
-Metal Primer (like this one here)
-Any plain white spray paint
-Acrylic paint/ paint pens (whichever you prefer but make sure it's acrylic)
-A can of mod podge (like this one here)
-Paintbrushes
-Waterproof sealer (like this one here)

Steps
1) Spray the metal part of the mug with the metal primer. Let it dry.

2) Spray the same part of the mug with the white spray paint. Let it dry.

3) Use the paint and paint pens to decorate however you please! Be creative. Tip: if you want to have a really fun pattern like this Lilly Pulitzer one, draw the pattern with a pencil onto tissue paper, then trace over the paper onto the mug with a sharpie. The pattern will bleed through and create a pattern for you to fill in.

4) Use a paintbrush and thoroughly coat the area with two coats. It is very important that you do this so it doesn't chip.
5) After this dries, use the waterproof sealer to spray over the area so that water or any drinks do not ruin the beautiful painting you have done.

6) Fill with your favorite drink and get to relaxing!

I will post a picture of my own mug soon!

Bliss: A Title Defined

Bliss. [blis] noun
(1) supreme happiness; utter joy or contentment
(2) heaven; paradise

When I looked up the definition of bliss on none other than dictionary.com, I found about 5 results. These two were my favorite and evoke the feeling that I envision when I chose the name of my blog. My overall goal in my life is to keep a state of joy despite my circumstances, and I think this really embodies that. And how could the word paradise not make you think of bliss?? I think of sitting on a beautiful beach with a cold glass of iced tea in my hand. Ahh that's bliss. But to get a better picture, I decided to do a google image search of bliss. These are the top bunch of results I got:

1) The Pure Bliss nail polish by Essie: this pale pink is overall just calming, and I absolutely LOVE Essie.
2) I just think this ethereal girl depicts an utter innocence (and adorableness) that bliss should contain. And how happy does she look??

3) This was a very common scene on the google search, and I can see why. Just looking at the rolling hills and perfectly blue sky just put me in a state of contentment.

4) Cappuccino. If you know me at all, you would know that I am obsessed with any form of coffee. So I definitely agree that coffee = bliss. Hmm maybe some coffee would be good...

5) Chocolate. You may also know that I don't like chocolate, but I do love my fair dose of food and sugar. Who doesn't though?

6) This beautiful bride that just radiates bliss. I could go on for hours about how much I love weddings, but I can't think of anything more blissful than a couple deeply in love.

So, all of that to say that I think life is bliss. It may not be perfect like these pictures sometimes, but I try to maintain that constant state of contentment that transcends good times and bad.

A Year to Remember

Well, having this be my first blog post, I thought it would be a great place to reflect on my first year at TCU. It was definitely a whirlwind of a year. I started off worried and nervous, but ended up having the most fun, crazy, and rewarding experience I could have imagined.
